Endowment History

On March 2, 1999, the Archdiocese of Washington approved St. John the Evangelist Endowment Fund-Policy #2006. Its purpose is to receive contributions (including pledges, grants, matching gifts, wills/trust, memorial of a loved one, and brick project funds) for the operational and educational needs of the school. The renaming of the Fund was made at the school's 50th Anniversary Celebration to honor our present principal of more than 25 years. The 2009-10 Endowment Fund Brochure provides additional information about the history of the fund and current giving opportunities.

The Endowment Board continues to manage the Endowment’s assets, as well as raise additional funds. In August of 2008, St. John the Evangelist Church borrowed $150K from the Endowment Fund. This loan was made with the approval of the Archbishop of Washington and in agreement with the policies governing the fund. The loan has been executed and upheld to the satisfaction of all parties and remains one of the financial instruments in which the Endowment Funds have been invested. The Board also monitors gift and scholarship requests, such as the Ann Nalls $25K Gift Request & Scholarship.
