St. John the Evangelist CYO Basketball offers both competitive and noncompetitive, intramural and kindergarten programs.
Competitive Basketball - grades 4 through 8
Competitive level basketball teams practice two evenings a week at nearby gymnasiums and games are scheduled on the weekend.
Intramural Basketball - grades K through 3
1st grade players are grouped into small, coed teams that play against other St. John's teams of equal size. Teams meet twice a week for one-hour practices in St. John's gym. Game times are usually between 12:00 and 5:00 on Sunday afternoons at the gym.
2nd and 3rd grades players are grouped into single gender teams and play against other similar St. John’s teams. They meet twice a week for one-hour practices in St. John's gym. Game times are usually between 12:00 and 5:00 on Sunday afternoons at the gym.
Kindergarten players meet each Saturday afternoon, usually after 3:00, at St. John's gym. The program teaches children basic basketball skills in a fun, low-impact environment. The program features skills demonstrations, skill-building games, practice, and small-sided games.
