Class of KidsPost: St. John the Evangelist third-graders
These kids say ‘cheese’ when the question is pizza. The 18 third-graders in Christine Calabro’s class at St. John the Evangelist School in Silver Spring are January’s “Class of KidsPost.” This group loves reading KidsPost (always important for a potential Class of KidsPost) and eating cheese pizza, but not talking on cellphones!
• Who is your favorite author?
These kids go for some real classics. Their favorites include Judy Blume, Roald Dahl, Jack London and J.K. Rowling (a modern classic).
• What’s your favorite game?
Monopoly, Apples to Apples, Boggle and Sorry Sliders all got mentioned.
• How much time do you spend on the Internet each week?
Seventeen kids said, “Two to three hours,” and one said, “Less than two hours.”
• What’s your favorite Web site?
CoolMath4Kids, FunSchool Kaboose and Not Doppler were among their favorites.
• Do you have a cellphone?
One child in the class of 18 has a phone.
• What’s your favorite pizza topping?
Seven kids voted for cheese, while pepperoni and “everything” got four votes each. Sausage and meatball also got votes.
• How often do you read KidsPost?
Every day: 3 votes.
Several times a week: 9 votes.
Just on Sundays: 4 votes.
Never or almost never: 2 votes. (We hope you’re reading today!)
• What’s the biggest problem in the world today?
Pollution, war, the economy, hunger and poverty are all on the minds of these socially aware third-graders.
