Research has shown that good schools encourage and have the involvement of dedicated parents. There are so many needed activities that not only enhance a school, but are also vital to the school’s operation. At St. John the Evangelist School, our generous parental involvement over the years demonstrates the true Christian spirit. We continue to encourage that spirit.
We especially need to have everyone involved at our lunch and playground times. For families with children in Grades K–8, this service must include twelve sessions of lunch/playground duty. Single parent families are required to fulfill six lunch duty hours. Parents who are unable to satisfy the lunch/playground duty requirement must pay $120.00, or $60.00 if a single parent, at the beginning of the school year to cover the cost of a paid substitute. Unfulfilled lunch duty hours will be billed at a rate of $10.00 per hour. Paid substitutes, including teachers, will then be paid $6.00 per lunch period. We ask that these twelve or six sessions be spread over the year if at all possible.
In addition, we ask each family to participate in whichever fundraising activities they choose in order to contribute a minimum of $300.00 per year. These fundraising activities will be outlined at the first Home School Association Meeting of the year. In lieu of participating in these activities, we ask a donation of $300.00 per family.
