Mrs. Jean Engler
Mrs. Engler grew up in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, so it’s a given that she loves her Steelers and her Pirates. However, she’s lived in Maryland long enough to have opened her heart to the Redskins and the Georgetown Hoyas.
Mrs. Engler has been a teacher for thousands of years (not really) but considers her greatest vocation to that of being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She has three children, two girls and one boy, and three grandchildren, two grandsons and one baby granddaughter. Family time is very special, and the traditions she shared with her children are continuing with her grandchildren – like watching them play soccer, sledding on snow days, playing board games, or doing puzzles together.
During the lazy days of summer, Mrs. Engler heads to Ocean City to walk on the beach, relax with the newest contemporary book of fiction, practice her yoga skills, ride a stationary bike, eat crab cakes, work on crafting projects, or play with her grandchildren. For one week out of every year, Mrs. Engler cranks up the oldies music, packs the guacamole and chips, and heads down south to Hilton Head with her entire family for a vacation in the sun. She hopes to one day be able to teach her grandchildren how to waterski, like she loved to do as a child on Lake Stoneycreek in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, not far from where flight 93 crashed on 9/11.
The second grade curriculum is based on the Archdiocese of Washington Academic Standards.
